Cherry Rice Krispie Treats w/Dark Chocolate
The minute I saw these on the Shugary Sweets website, I KNEW that I was going to make them. The beauty of these is that they can be GF if you like, just get the GF cereal. They still have lots of cornstarch thanks to the marshmallows—so for me they are technically contraband, but I try to give myself a little leeway.
Ok, a LOT of leeway.
This time I started early in the morning—before kids had all left for school.
I made a bit bigger of a batch than the recipe listed. This means I had to run out to the store and grab some more chocolate chips for the topping (I used Semi-Sweet) and some valentines sprinkles as I was all out.
I put them in a bar pan and let them set/cool all day.
Understandably a “DO NOT TOUCH” sign had to be placed in front of them so that little bits wouldn’t be picked off. I admit, they looked GOOD. Tasted good too!
Ryan picked out his little friend from school to be our recipient. He was excited to deliver them himself!
You know that these didn’t last long.
*one thing we discovered, to soften these pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds. That will save you from orthodontic issues*
